Sonex is Back?

I think they have put zero effort into the web page so far. None of the links seem to work.

I think it is just a place holder. The development team may be physically separated. I don’t know, maybe it’s easier for them to have the web page live while under development.

I am curious if anyone has received previously ordered high wing tail kits since the Sonex restart - or any kits, parts, or anything else since the restart. I have not heard anything. I keep hoping the new website will get an update or additions of functionality that currently don’t work. Back in the day we used to call sites like that ā€œbrochurewareā€, but with the links there it looks like there was a plan at one time to add the functionality but the backend is just not there.

Hi Kevin,

I’m guessing it takes time to get a complex new site up and running, especially if this new one will be integrated into an inventory management system that’s being setup.

On Thursday, I called Sonex and placed an order for the dual controls option for a B-model. They were super helpful verifying that the parts were in inventory and upfront that there is a backlog of items being shipped. It may take a number of days before my parts ship out but I’m glad they’re first taking care of the builders who had ordered items earlier.

Having a sizable deposit on the remaining HighWing, I’m a little surprised my partner and I haven’t heard anything from the new Sonex. I was originally shocked that an email wasn’t sent when the old Sonex shutdown. I had really hoped a new refocusing on Customer Support was happening after the restructure and new management. It’s now been a few weeks since the new owner has taken over. Sonex really needs a Customer Service focus person on their staff.

It’s been 11 working days since the announcement. I’m sure they have to do a full inventory as they move to the new accounting system. They also need to move inventory around to make room for the new machine shop. All hands on deck. If you have ever lived through the re-organization of a medium sized business, you’ll know it’s chaos.

Cut them a little slack.

Hey all, I just spoke with Sonex today…they called me back. I am working on the quick build Sonex B that was delivered Jan 20 this year. I am still waiting for some back ordered parts and hardware and they should be getting me a date when I should expect delivery. Also, tech support got back to me as well and are looking into a few issues i’m having with fitment of the engine mount and center mounted controls due to my dual controls choice. I’ll let you all know when I hear back from them.

They are working hard to get through nearly a month of backlog inquiries/orders…it’ll take some time to get back up to full speed i’m sure.

I just received the invoice and receipt for parts I ordered for my build.

This usually means they were shipped.

Yeah, I’m taking the comments from various people here about phones being answered and emails responded to as positive signs.

I can only imagine the chaos on their end.

It appears the new website is gone, it redirects to the old Sonex website.

My guess is a lot of backend work being accomplished, creating/connecting databases, payment systems, etc.

I just received an invoice for oops fittings, and it looks like a new payment system is in place (Stripe). I paid and downloaded the receipt.

So things are looking up.
