Xenos training

I am looking for flight training in a Xenos. Preferably from scratch to PPL-G. If not I can find motorglider certification else where and then look for conversion training. Any Ideas or resources anyone knows of?

rolape2,

It seems unlikely that you could find training from scratch in a Xenos. They are experimental, amateur built, and there are not that many of them. Easier, but still hard, to get transition training after you have the ratings.

Edit: look at this article:

As a practical matter, you will only be able to do your primary training in a homebuilt that you own.

Good point, I had forgotten that. I am looking at buying one. Needs tail rebuilt. Guess i will need to get the initial training then do conversion in mine.

I assume you saw this, which just popped up:

Michael is a well-known Waiex guy from the old forum. I’ve hung out with him at Oshkosh before.

rolape2 and @WaiexN143NM welcome to the forums!

I have seen and considering it. Have to see how everything else goes first.

If you come to Melbourne, FL, I will take you up in my Xenos. Only stipulations are that you don’t peg out the bubba factor and I have a 10 kt direct Xwind limit.

I am selling my Xenos to make room for my next project. Three flying airplanes make for crowded hangars.

If interested, give me a call. 321-403-7731.

I was wondering why you were selling your Xenos after putting in all those hours. It is a beautiful bird. I will give you a call when I can get down that way.

I like building as much as flying and would like some hangar space available for a future project. I have the Xenos, Skybolt & RV-6 and that is a handful to keep up with along with the other planes I work with. As an A&P and builder of numerous planes, I have a list of people that need me for condition inspections and repairs, not to mention building project assistance. The Xenos is the largest to hangar and has the narrowest window of flying conditions so that is the one currently for sale. I’m on the fence about selling the Skybolt. It is just so much fun to go up and fly the IAC Sportsman routine and come back in.
