Who am I talking to?

Guys,

I always feel compelled to say this once. So here goes.

Why can’t we all use our real names? I understand that some folks want a CB handle but at least make your profile public, so we have a real name when we want to address you.

Ok, enough whining.

Maybe it is the obsession with privacy we have in our modern world. I can’t even get help on “customer sercice” lines with credit cards and banks because my account number has been blocked on my statements. The amount of spam and the number of robo calls i get are distracting and frustrating. So I kind of get it, Wes, as sad as it is. Fly safe.

There. I’m not afraid :))

Wes, you should probably explain the CB handle thing for the youngsters in the room.

10-4 Good Buddy. Back in my high school days, before cell phones and chat groups, two-way (Citizen Band) radios were all the craze. Everybody had a code name (handle) they used while talking on the CB.

The internet is completely public and searchable. I don’t like any rando being able to Google me and find everything I’ve ever said or done on the internet. I’m not against y’all knowing who I am - it’s just the fact that this is a completely public and searchable forum so it ain’t just about y’all.

You could at least include your first name and which aircraft you are interested in or flying in your profile and make that profile public. That way it wouldn’t feel like we were talking to a jester.

I don’t seem to be able to edit my username.

Buried deep in my profile under preferences there is an ‘about me’ section which has my name (Murray Parr), aircraft model, engine type, date of first rivet pulled and first flight but none of that shows up when I post or reply to anything.

Would be good if something like that could be included as a signature under each post (that’s how the old forum was set up).
