I don’t plan to keep a full build log here - I use a combination of a Google Sheet file and YouTube for that. But I’ll post stuff here once in a while. I enjoy looking at the progress that others are making and hopefully I can contribute to that.
That said, I decided to do a loose interpretation of a warbird on my build. I’ve decided to call it “The Flying Chihuahua” or maybe “The Fighting Chihuahua” named after the family dog, Chichi.
I used ChayGPT to create a simple cartoon of a snarling Chihuahua sitting in a bomb that I’m slowly working into nose art that I’ll have printed on a vinyl decal.
Grateful Dead Steal Your Face logo.
Available in large sizes.
Yes, I am a Dead Head.
I also like calling ourselves “Uncle John’s Band”, as a homage to John Monnett.
Band, as in a company of people having a common purpose; group.
It is also the title of a GD song (link to studio version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2zItg1sBJg)
Also thinking of using Jerry’s wolf as either a squadron or personal symbol.
(The Dire Wolf Squadron)
I’ve always said that since I’ve drawn blodd so many times while working on this that I’d name my plane “The Phlebotomist”. Not going to actually do this, but here is an image created by chat gbt.
Haha. Good one. Blood, sweat and tears, but mostly blood.
A few years ago I read an article in (I think) Kitplanes Magazine that was titled something like “Building an Airplane … or How Many Times Can I Drill Through the Same Finger?” Truer words were never spoken.
My best one was a couple weeks ago. I was putting my head down to put in the #2 spark plug and gashed my forehead on the tip of the P-tip prop. It bled a lot!
Awesome! Glad they’re helpful. Seems like I spend about twice as much time editing them as I do building. I’d probably be flying by now if I just spent my time building instead.
I’m interested in your potential Highwing project. Keep us informed!
Nope! the USAF took me away after I enlisted after a very unproductive semister at U of Md/college park. I have been in Okla and Tx since 1968. I have a brother in vienna Va, but I dont visit the east coast often at all. Have careful travels these next few days…Tx probably will get lots of ice here 50 mi north Of Dallas!!
