A quick update for our upcoming Sonex Fly-In Sat/Sun the 26th & 27th of September. As of now the weather looks to be shaping up nicely! We will setup airplane parking and camping as highlighted in the map below.
On Saturday the KBAK ATC team will host attendees at 1:30pm for a tower tour. This is a legacy military tower from the 50’s. You can get a preview of the new tower is under construction and due to open the summer of 2027. Following the tower tour the Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum is open and we will also have our 1952 Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar open to us. We will target a Burger & Brat cookout for that evening followed by a social time/evening. If you would like to reserve a tent to avoid packing one let us know. Multiple pilot lounges with showers and restrooms are also available. We will have bicycles, tables and chairs as needed for the event.
On Sunday we will host a pancake breakfast for attendees. This will be followed by flying and sharing rides for those current and potential builders that have yet to fly the Sonex experience. We would also like to host a discussion on the interest and any improvements we can make to turn this into an annual event. On a side note Lonnie Prince with PAC has graciously offered $100 discount
coupons to “attendees only” for any new propeller orders (base prop only, no accessories) ordered between Sept 26 through Oct 10.
We also have our EAA729 Chapter that can be open and tour our youth Zenith 650 build, RedBird TD and other simulators as requested.

Will do Michael….. we have some amazing facilities/organizations here to pull on for something like this. Having 3 Sonex based here and a 4th being built adds to the opportunities. Also the number of regional/Indiana builders is a further multiplier
Hello, this is my first post here. I just acquired a Sonex legacy kit last week. I have been looking at them for several years. I live in KY close to the Louisville area. Would it be OK if I drove up to attend for a few hours on Saturday? I would be interested in meeting other builders and owners.
Absolutely, ride bike fly drive walk train….. whatever it takes please attend! We have a number of folks coming that are building or about to start. A couple wrapping up converses or repairs, or about to enter airworthiness phase. You are welcome to camp overnight. Hope to see you there and give me a call if you have any questions.
Be sure to search me out. I want to introduce you to another person here in Columbus also building a legacy Waiex. He has been our “Yoda” for questions on our builds. He is an A&P, has every conceivable tool ever created in the history of mankind, and his build is absolutely perfection. Super nice guy and outstanding knowledge base. Will be great to have his contact number on speed dial.
