Reaching out to understand the overall level of interest in a Sonex Fly-in?
-Towards the end of September 26/27
-Hosted at KBAK in Columbus IN (40 miles south of Indy)
-Can arrange overnight camping with the airport
-Fly-in Saturday, leave that day or Sunday
-Could have a cookout that evening, and Pancake breakfast on Sunday for those still around (free will donation to help cover any costs)
-We have an air museum (Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum) on the airport and a static display of a C-119 (can have both open)
-Our EAA Chapter 729 will also be open with our Zenith build
-There is a restaurant on field, a towered airport, plenty of runway and tie-downs, a pilot lounge with shower facilities
-Plenty of local flying destinations if interested in a day trip
-Many hotels & restaurants in the area, Columbus is also an architectural design destination with many unique world renowned & registered buildings.
We have 3 flying Sonex at the airport with many many others being built within this region (Onex’s, HighWing, Sonex & Waiex). We had thought about doing something like this a couple years ago but a couple medical issues pushed it out. Not sure if we would have it open to the public (would walk before we run, have never done anything like this).
What’s the level of interest, how many would possibly attend.
