Find out what kind they are and you can usually replace them with any probe. Each has a “type” - I am sure others can provide more specifics. For example, K type probe…
From this, it looks like they are type K:
I’m using one of these:
I also found a type K lug to go under the spark plug on ebay. I’m still on the original 4 of those. I had two different styles of EGT probes and one died recently, so I bought a couple like in the ebay link.
EGT thermocouples are mostly type K but CHT may be either. Mine are from GRT (Grand rap[ids Technology) and I originally purchased their low cost ones. as with yours, they did not last long. Their more expensive ones were still working fine when i sold the plane after many more years. I would suspect the ones found on E-Bay might be the cheaper option. Buyer beware.
If your leads for the CHGT thermocouples are not insulated from the cooling air flow, adding an insulating sleeve over the wires close to the thermocouples and extending over any exposed portions of the thermocouples will give a more accurate reading of actual heat temperatures. On my CAMit 3300, I and the owner of CAMit both found the readings increased about 10°C or 20°F with the insulation.

Thanks guys. I’ll be back at the hangar tomorrow and will check types and order as appropriate. Also appreciate the info on the “economical” vs “quality” probes.

I’ve got a lot of hours on my cheap probes!
