We are planning on attending Osh Kosh (travelling from Australia) this year!
Are there any Sonex gatherings planned?
Any recommendations for accommodation close to the event?
Hope to see many Sonex folks there!
Cheers,
Murray

Hi Murray,
Welcome to the forum! Although I haven’t seen anything officially announced yet, the Sonex factory usually hosts an open house the Sunday before the show officially starts (this year it would be July 20th). In previous years, there has been a cookout on Wednesday night as well at one of the local builders’ house (though nothing announced quite yet). If I hear of anything official, I will post something here on the new forum.
As far as lodging, I’ve heard that can be tricky as far as hotels go. There are a number of hotels in the general area that offer daily shuttles but they can book up fast. Worst case scenario, you could always get a rental car too.
Thanks for the questions, Murray, and I hope to meet you at some point during the show!
Hey Murray,
I’ll be coming up with my son this year as well. First timer!!! Also building SNB 0047. Its looking like we may be staying in a hotel towards Milwaukee. Only doing the show for 2 days. Although, we are not above camping under someone’s wing if the opportunity arose!
Are you the guy doing the youtube vlog of your build?
-Dennis
Thanks for the responses,
I managed to book a hotel in Appleton and booked flights to get there on Monday evening. Hopefully I can get a cab or some form of transport to the air show!
We will be attending AirVenture Tuesday and Wednesday. Hoping to try on the High Wing for size at the Sonex factory and also check out some other Sonex aircraft. Do all the Sonex’s generally park in the one area?
Dennis, the only YouTube I have done is of the first flight a couple of years ago.
Sonex sets up their booth over in the homebuilt area where their factory aircraft are on display. Across from their booth is a homebuilt day parking area that had quite a few Sonex aircraft parked there. I don’t think camping is allowed in that area so I’m sure there were a bunch more spread out in the camping area.
