Wanted to quickly plug my build for #246. I am trying to keep up with Mike’s #245 project.
Anyways, have fun. Keep building.

Well done!
You’ll be sitting in it making airplane noises before you know it!
Welcome imamac96! Thanks for sharing your build log. Looking good so far!
Quick tool to help drill straight holes in L02-03:
Still in progress, but I also wanted to share the build addendum I’m writing as I go:
I have one of those timing gear pullers. Works great - especially once I figured out the way to use it was with an air impact wrench. Otherwise it’s hard to hold the crank down when you put a ton of force on the breaker bar.
I had no issues freezing the crank as per the instructions. A key thing is to do the job when your wife is not home so you can keep it in the air conditioning and not have too much moisture freeze out on the crank.
Yeah it’s much easier to use an impact for that puller tool. I invested in a cordless impact for the crank (doing it in my apartment with no air compressor). Nice to have it for working on my car as well.
Odd about the crank though. I had fits with it until support suggested to not freeze it. Had absolutely no issue when I tried it again.
I’ll have to try that the next time.
Here’s a quick tool I drew up to support the Vevor hydraulic tube bender (HHW-22B). I didn’t like the ratcheting one from Harbor Freight, so I’ll give this little new one a shot. The support holds the tube planar as you bend it with the ends of the tube supported on 3/4” MDF. The handle stays on top, so it’s easy to pump. This makes it way easier to bend the canopy tubes. It’s specifically for the 1/2” tube on the Onex.

Have fun, keep building.

Hey @imamac96 I see that you’re looking at using the Waspi engine monitor.
I’m a loooooong time from needing to finalize avionics, but trying to put together a basic plan and their monitor looks like a good deal - what have you heard about them?
Added an entry last night to explain
They have worked closely with the Corvair community. If they had not done this, then I never would’ve considered them. The VW installation is not officially supported, but it follows the GRT spec, so I’m not particularly worried. It does bum me out (as a software engineer) that it’s not user-updatable, but I also understand from a relatability standpoint of not wanting users to tinker with your product.
This looks very promising for a Sonex/Onex, and I’m excited to give it a shot.
Hi,
I am about to order some switches. I am interested in exactly which switches you chose ![]()

Hi Wes,
A screenshot of my Mouser invoice is attached to give you some ideas.
See: DOG Aviation John's RV-12 Blog: RV-12 Panel Switches Sourced – A Duh MomentThanks a bunch! I’ll give them a look.

“I’m a software engineer that doesn’t trust software engineers…”
Oh. My.
My day job has me laughing at this comment.
And thanks for the Mouser parts list! We too are looking at switches!
Yeah, so Google just flagged my build addendum as spam, so afaik it’s not currently accessible. Under review at this time to get it visible again.
But yeah, still trucking’ despite the bankruptcy.
Hi Conner! glad to see you still plugging along!! SPAM is a mix of skunk, porcupine, armadillo, and muskrat cookings, as we in AF used to say!!!
