Based on recent feedback regarding operations stopping at Sonex, a new section of the forum called Part Sources has been created to help builders source Sonex factory parts. Before posting in that section, please make sure to read the stickied post that has further instructions on formatting for those types of posts. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or feedback. Thanks everyone!
Regarding the proposed format, I’m thinking just going by part number may be a little clunky. Rather than have a separate topic for brake pucks, how about an Aeroconversions brakes topic covering pucks, rotors, and O-rings?
Questions:
- Is it possible to “pin” posts to the top of a thread/topic?
- Can you delegate authority to moderators and limit their access to a specific topic or forum area?
If the answer to both of those is “yes”, then I’d propose we spin up topics for each airframe or major system. Allow each topic to grow and sprawl organically, but use the first (pinned) post to provide a bulleted list of links to parts sources. Use a few volunteer moderators to help prune the threads from time to time, removing unavailable/outdated posts and updating the list of links in each pinned post.

@NWade and @Bryan_Cotton I initially had the same thought, but I’m inclined to think separate posts for each part (thereby creating separate pages for each substitute) would help SEO indexing and allow the substitution pages/topics easier to find with a search engine. What if there was a stickied “index page” that linked to each topic?
That’s a fine approach. I’m guessing you may still need to consolidate some things (like fasteners, bushings, etc) - but nothing says this has to be a perfect system the first time around.
Let me know how I can help, thanks a bunch for providing the forums!
