I would like to have any comments, pro or con on the new heads sonex sells, vs the mofoco heads from a few years ago, as in who, where they are made, longevity, exact fitment, etc. Thanks much!
Joe, I think they are ok. The cooling fin casting quality is sometimes poor, but a little work can clean it up. Check out my video.
One thing I forgot, my original heads were mofoco and they had really bad valve sealing out of the box. I never ran them. Sonex replaced them for me, no cost. The Empi heads were better.
Hi Joe,
I’ve had a really bad experience with Mofoco heads on an earlier Revmaster. Poor sealing and warping of the heads in less than25 hours of run time. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. From what I understand Mofoco uses a softer alloy for their castings. Best leave these for the car crowd.
Empi’s are better, but CB performance 044’s are the best quality heads in my experience. Of course you have to find someone who will machine the bottom plug holes.
Fitment is not an issue with only minor baffle adjustment Mofoco VS Empi.
