Adam and I had pretty much decided on an MGL cockpit for our upgrade, and Michigan Avionics dropped out of the market due to tariffs. A forum member just told me about this:
Anybody do business with them yet?
I visited with Evan in his booth at Airventure and ended up going with him for my instruments.
He has worked with MGL instruments in the past and I found him to be very knowledgeable.
He has only been carrying MGL since Michigan Avionics stopped, but MGL has been around a long time, with lots of units in service and a good reputation, which gives me confidence in the product.
Time will tell…

I too stopped by their booth at av. Not sure if the tarriffs were the sole reason that michigan avionics ended the business w mgl.

I believe Michigan Avionics ended business…period. not just being a MGL dealer, they closed up shop in total.

I bought all the MGL Blaze instruments in the Ruckus from Evan, who also happens to be a Ruckus kit builder. He might be too busy to ever finish his though 
From my dealings with him he seems like a great guy.

Thanks for the feedback guys. We are going to make a purchase shortly and start prepping for a winter swap. So far in our Alpha MFD we have had failures in the altimeter setting, pushbuttons, and now the oil pressure reading. Time to replace it.
Rusty, we actually bought an MGL Blaze altimeter when our Brauniger altitude got wonky - partly to keep flying, partly to see if we liked it. So, we like it after a year or more.

Michigan Avionics has morphed into Midwest Panel Builders using Garmin products for Sling kit builds.

Michigan Avionics was Midwest Panel Builders well before they were handling MGL. The original US MGL dealer had a flight school/Sling import business on the side. When that side business became the main business, most of the MGL responsibility was transferred to their Garmin dealer- Midwest Panel Builders. I suspect, they formed Michigan Avionics to keep Garmin and MGL separate.
On my end everything is starting from a clean sheet. MGL is my full time job now. And it definitely has to be to keep up with MGL demand in the US, which I must admit is becoming quite difficult as a (mostly) one-man show.
