Enigma Static Port Broke Off

I barely touched the static line when splicing in a T connector and the static connector broke clean off the back of my Enigma. Anyone had to do this repair before? I’m planning to use some epoxy but thought I would see if anyone has done this before and has any tips.

Hey Rodger,

We don’t have an Enigma but I needed to change the fittings on my orphan Brauniger. I just opened it up and swapped the fittings.

I reviewed some photos and I think the nipple is directly attached to the sensor itself which is soldered directly to the board. I’m heading out to the hangar after work today to pull the panel and open it up. Would be nice if I can just replace the fittings as you did - I could put some standard 1/4” OD quick disconnect fittings on.

For posterity:

Luckily, the AoA and Pitot/Static nipples on the back of the Enigma are just through-bulkhead adapters. On the inside, the adapters are hooked to tubes that run to the sensors. The tubes on the inside fit with a 3/16-in barb fitting. I could not find the proper fitting to fit in the hole, so I drilled out the proper size for a through-bulkhead fitting that I found at the hardware store.

It appears to me that 1/4-in OD is the standard for instruments. However, the Barb on the outside of the Enigma is 1/4-in ID. I decided to take this opportunity to convert the fitting on the outside of the bulkhead to 3/16 in ID- which fits a 1/4-in OD nylon tube.
