Has anyone put an Edge Performance Rotax on their project? I am thinking of maybe their EP916ECI conversion which starts out as a new 912ULS for when Sonex has the tri-gear Phoenix ready. If you have what has been your experience.?
I have an EP915ECI in my std gear Legacy, its third engine after a 85 hp and a 120 hp Jab. Has been sitting there since 2020- almost 200 hours on it by now. Cruise at 3000 ft amsl is some 123kts at 4800 rpm and 16-18 l/hr. Prop is FP 2-blade Sensenich. 5200 rpm gets me comfortably above 130 kts. Takeoff acceleration is brisk and prop torque on grass produces a marked left hand drift, even with full right aileron and rudder. Flat out it will do 156 kts at 5800 rpm- the little monster is far more greedy at this throttle setting and egt´s hover around 800 deg C. Lower down I see approx 740-760 deg C.
