Builders web sites?

Well, with the price increase looming, I decided to pull the trigger and get the Sonex Model B underway!
I use YouTube a lot for building information and purchased several DVD’s to get started.
What I’m looking for now, is a builder web site who is documenting the construction journey. I’ve seen lots of web sites for the Van’s RV crowd but looking for advice on the Sonex Model B. May be someone a year into the construction?

There are many great how to videos on the EAA website. https://www.eaa.org/videos/hints-for-homebuilders You need to be an EAA member to view them. Some of the videos related to metal aircraft were produced by Sonex.

Hit the SEARCH button
Will get you 97 build logs.

EAA Builders Log.
I converted all my notes on the plans to this web site and continued using it to finish my OneX project. I really liked it for ease of making daily entries and photos.
The down side, because it’s in the cloud, was be sure you have Internet service when presenting your data to the inspector for your final inspection when you need to show your builders log.

Shop cleaning,
Tools review and cleaning,
Got a bunch of extra 1/8 copper clecos (Van’s RV9A used mostly silver on the wings.)
New blades for band saw, Scotch wheel checked out, Plenty of #30 and #40 drills. Check other drills for condition
Blue tape, Acetone, big, middle and small sharpie pens, clean terry towels and pink shop towels
Got a new Boelube (solid and liquid)
Compressor check out
Lube all my air tools
Replace worktable top.
Create new file box with hanging folders
Update phone numbers
Update first aid kit
Am I missing anything?

You will need a Press to do some metal bending i would get a cheapo harbor freight model as you only use it in a few places, Also i recommend using a 15/16 or 1" socket with a v cut wood block for making those bends where required. A deburing tool is helpful as is a broken off file chunk in a wood block although i think brown tool might sell a nice little one its useful for quickly deburing things you cant get the deburing tool onto. If you are using air tools there is an air based cleco installer that will do wonders to keep your hands fresh and make you way more efficent. those are my top items i also didnt see you mention any kind of rivet puller but that i think is pretty obvious. Aside from that get yourself a set of drill bits for the common AN bolts, it might be worth it to actually get drill compatible reamers they make some that also deburr but those can get cost prohibitive but are recommended for the tight fit holes for several bolt installations. Thats the obvious things that get overlooked, oh and a set of dimple dies you can use the cheapo nail versions just get a box of nails as eventaully the nails break. A nice Straight edge for mesuring the items you need to scratch build form stock think random spacers etc. i would get a large metal yardstick and a smaller precise ruler, an angle tool of some sort and a triangle for drawing straight lines across 90’s also if you dont already have C clamps get your self an extra pair beyond the recommended 6 in ones and get some bigger 9 or 12 inch clamps as you will need them when you get to the spars.
Note most of this you wont need all at once you can add to the tool sets as you go along but having these handy makes it so you dont have to stop in the middle of the build. There is nothing worse than getting started and realizing you need something else to be able to complete what you planned to do for the day.
And remember you eat an elephant one bite at a time.

Go to http://www.mykitlog.com and you can search for specific planes being built. There are a lot of Sonex aircraft on there, some being the B-models.

Yes, lots of good stuff here. I was building a Vans RV-9A so I actually have almost all of that stuff. Measuring tools = Very Important. I do like my pneumatic cleco gun!
1X and 2X rivet guns will be of little use here I think.
I do have a good quality Pop rivet gun (Can I say pop rivets here?) AND I bought an electric Milwaukee “pulled-rivet” gun too.
Tons of deburring tools, but do you have a source for a #30 double deburr tool?

If I only need 100 pounds of elbow grease, this will be WAY easier than a Vans!

For the deburring tools i went through brown tool, https://www.browntool.com/Listview/tabid/344/txtSearch/deburr/Default.aspx The Dogleg and coarse file wood block are probably sufficent although i could see the fine file version being useful
