Bogi-Bar for Tail Draggers

I’ve been working with Bogart Aviation over the past few weeks - to get one of their Bogi-Bars specifically for a Sonex Tail Wheel with the optional 6” wheel.

Today my new Bogi-Bar arrived and it fits perfectly. Bogart has not yet updated their web site - but the P/N is: 04M-SonexTW6

Cost is $274.00

This Bogi-Bar should fit any tail wheel Sonex with the 6” tail wheel.

Hi Bill, that’s great news! Coming up with a towbar solution has been on my list but haven’t gotten to it yet. Would you mind sharing some pictures of how it connects to the tailwheel?

Here’s a couple of pictures.

Thanks, Bill. Looks like a great fit!

We left off the ventral fin and just grab the tail spring. Problem is that it’s usually oily because we have VW power. So it does not pick up the tailwheel like the classic taildragger dragger?

Bryan,

You are correct - the tailwheel is not lifted.

Of course with our steerable tailwheels - that means that you cannot turn sharp unless you reach down and lift the tailwheel up off the ground.

However, I find it much easier to move around using the Bogi-Bar - than lifting the airplane any time I want to move it. I turned 70 this year and those things don’t come as easy as they once did.

Glad I bought it - no regrets.

Our hangar floor is pretty flat as is the pavement in front. I have been using a Rubbermaid can dolly under the rear wheel. I strap it on with a single bungee cord. Allows the tail to turn as needed and makes rolling the plane in backwards a snap.

It has a recess where the tail wheel fits quite nicely too.
