Hi all,
Just some info to pass along, a subsonex N798LL that
was going to fly in the airventure nite airshow wed. & sat nites, may not be coming. Tom larkin, ex usaf F15, and capt.
for us airline, crashed the subsonex into greenwood lake
yesterday. He was doing an airshow in west milford nj.
about 6 pm ended up in the water. He walked away no injuries. Not sure of extent of damage. He performs in many airshows, the lighting and pyro quite something.
See minijetairshows.com
This aircraft was the first customer subsonex to fly, built by redge greenberg, jsx-0003. N346RG. It unfortunately had a gear up
landing 29 oct 2015, in durango co. after only 2 hrs TT.
It was repaired, and tom larkin bought it.
Was looking forward to seeing it, maybe not this year.

28 Days to airventure.
In the experimental aircraft channel video, stephen osborne indicated a sonex open house . , 2 forums , on mon . and wed. A sonex booth in the normal spot.

Please dont forget to sign up for the sonex bbq, wed jul 19

Very close to us here. I heard about it on the news on the way home from my airport. Reported as “the pilot was uninjured and “refused medical treatment” …” Good, must have been a low energy impact into the lake. I don’t know the specifics of this incident, but sometimes pilots run off the end of the runway and into the lake.

If he was operating from 4N1, that’s not really close enough to Greenwood Lake for an overrun. Unless he ended up in the pond between the runways? It’s not really clear.

Edit: I see some sources say Green Turtle Pond, but same comment.

Hi all,
I did see a video on line today he was in an airshow,
he took off on a beautiful day, smoke on and climbing
out, announcer say he will climb for altitude and circle
back for high speed pass. But he never returned, shortly
after crowd heared sirens, other witness say a gentle glide
into water, maybe some sort of engine failure.
Good to hear no injuries, not sure of extent of damage
to the plane.
