2025 Sonex BBQ

Hi everyone. Wayne and Kathy Daniels have graciously agreed to put up with us this year during AirVenture Oshkosh.

Join your Sonex family for a BBQ starting about 6 pm on Wednesday July 23rd, 2025. You need to sign up so we can plan for attendance. Cost is up to you - typically about $15 a head please.

Please note. This is an all volunteer, self powered event. Without volunteers we cannot do this.

Use the link above, please.

Hi everyone

Just bumping this topic back up again. Oshkosh is not far off and this is a great BBQ to meet new friends and catch up with “vintage” ones!

Sign up today and see the night airshow from a unique perspective!

Thanks for posting, Robbie! I’ll pin this to make it more visible.

About a month to go until the big show in Wisconsin! If you are going to be there, and want to meet all your Sonex friends and family, sign up for the BBQ please.

Bump…

Hoping more of you sign up for the BBQ! Right now there are 22 people signed up. It’s important we are able to tell Wayne how much food to buy.

Trying to signup for the barbeque but while I can see the list of those signed up, I do not see how to add my name to the list.

Okay, signed on for the barbeque. first attempt it did nothing when I clicked - Save and Continue, this time it worked. FWIW: It still tells me to turn off ad blocker even though it is off for that site.

Is this easy to walk to from the Expiremental Camping area?

No not at all. In fact, it’s not possible. Wayne’s house is on the east side of the airport, across runway 18/36. You cannot walk to it.

However. At least one person registered for the BBQ stating they can drive others over.

If you are interested in a ride please post that here and let’s see what we can try to arrange.

I’ll be there in the 2000 Buick century. PM me for a phone number. Or solve this little puzzle for my Gmail address. First name, last name, 3 digit serial number of my airplane all appended together.

If you need it:

Y’all have fun. I’ll be watching from afar this year with a suspect crankshaft deep in my 3300. The word on the street is that I’ll have a new one installed soon after the Big Show.

Hey Kip, welcome to the forum! That sucks. Adam and I sometimes talk about going to Jabiru but it seems nothing is bulletproof!

Yeah, Bryan, so much for the latest and greatest Gen 4. My old Jabiru was trouble-free for over 12 years.

Yeah the Gen 4 has had it’s moments. Mine was cylinders and low oil pressure.

Makes me feel better about having my AeroVee apart twice in 360 hours. I’ll have a report on that later.

Greetings all..Wayne (your host here).
We are now one week away from the cookout and night airshow at 7th Heaven.

In order to facilitate purchases for the event by my wife Kathy (the nice lady that lets me live here!) I am going to impose a noon Monday the 21st cut-off for signing up. Please insure you and your friends are signed by noon on Monday so that we are able to purchase and prepare everything for the cookout! Thanks!

Even though it’s still a week away, the current forecast for Wednesday evening is showing significant rain. Rule here is if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes…it’ll change! A week is a lot of time for the forecast to change. That all said..this has happened before and EAA postponed the Wednesday night show to Thursday and we also postponed till Thursday for the cookout. We will do the same this year IF THE SHOW GETS POSTPONED, as we’ll already have everything purchased. I know a lot of you make plans to depart on Thursday in order to take in the Wednesday night show..so asking that if able please be prepared to adjust your schedule.
Thanks, Wayne
