trigger shaft assembly

I took the stator off and two of the ACV-Z01-36 cap screws that hold in the trigger shaft assembly were loose. One of them fell out. The stator had been rubbing on the screws. Obviously I can not put in a new 1/4 X 28 cap screw. I am going to have to up drill the hole and retap it. Has anyone done this and what did you use and how did it work out?

Excactly why not put in a new screw, is thread Damaged ?
