Sonex Legacy (A model) Scratch Built project for sale

Hi Everyone,

I’m a non-pilot, long time EAA member, retired public school teacher and have been scratch building a Sonex on and off for longer than I want to admit! I actually attended an early Sonex builders workshop with Tony Spicer (who eventually made and flew the first customer-built Sonex to fly) in attendance. Building and flying a homebuilt airplane seemed like the ultimate project and it largely has been. I finally took some lessons a couple years ago and learned that flying safely is not like a sport that one can just occasionally take part in. All that said, I’m looking at selling my project.

Here are the basics of what I have:

Sonex plans #0112

Completed wings, ailerons and flaps with LED lights

Completed tail with rudder and elevator fiberglass tips

Rear fuselage box assembled, lots of fuselage parts made or started, turtle deck formers from Sonex

All Aluminum sheet, angle, bar, channel etc. needed to complete the airplane

A complete welded componets kit from Sonex (Jabaru 3300 conventional gear motor mount)

Titanium rod main landing gear and tail wheel rod

I’ve followed the plans and paid attention to the details and I think that is reflected in my work thus far. Looking over my receipts, I have at least $10,000 invested (most of which are early 2000’s prices) and would obviously like to recoup that. I’m happy to send pics, give more details etc. Make an offer, the price is negotiable!

Welcome JW! although I am sorry to read you are selling your labours without seeing it fly, I can understand. I scratched my out of rolls of al sheet, and am still flying it as weather here in hot N.Texas allows. I do have a friend who is looking for another plane, but not so much a project, however, I will send this to him, and prod him a bit! can you tell us where you are located?

looks like he’s in Montana, believe this is his posting on Barntosmrers
