Hey Mike, glad to see you join us! We are still chasing your AeroVee total time.
Welcome Mike! Good to see you here!
Welcome to another ,scratcher,! glad to have you here!
Just some recent background for those who don’t know. I scratch built my tailwheel Sonex for $28,000 all-in, flying my first flight in 2014. I’ve been to Airventure and back (I’m outside of Boston) 3 times. I fly a lot of aerobatics; loops, rolls, spins, half Cubans, hammerheads, etc.
I’m now building an RV-7 that will have a UL Power UL520iSA engine. 200 hp with inverted fuel and oil so I can stay upside down! Tail and wings are done, and fuselage is about to start the canopy. Electrical and avionics are just being finished.
I am SO glad I built the Sonex, first. The RV is a much more difficult and complicated aircraft to build. With the 80 hp AeroVee, I’ve been weight challenged, but I still wouldn’t have traded the experience for anything! It’s been a great air frame for 12 years and almost 700 hours.
I’m happy to offer anything I can to the group. My Sonex builder’s log is: Michael Smith - Experimental Aircraft Builder's Log . My RV-7 build is there, too.
Blue skies,
Mike

Mike,
You should post your story again. “I love my Sonex.” I’ve got a copy of the .pdf from the old website.
