Hi Everyone!

Like a lot of others here I started giving Sonex a serious look with the release of the cruise speed #s and useful load. I have always wanted to build a kit but after the Van’s bankruptcy and price adjustments it felt unattainable, while the Waiex never really seemed to have the performance in speed and useful load that I was after.

Currently setting up my garage for winter building and hoping to put a tail kit order in soon. Excited to see more of the Phoenix builds take shape. I have a suspicion that it will become a very popular kit once the word starts getting out.

Very cool Cam! The Highwing is a real increase in useful load over the Waiex and better in cruise. If you are into aerobatics the ability to do them 2-up is awesome. We really like our Waiex but admit there are real improvements in the Highwing design. Good luck! I see you are a Minnesota passport program participant. We are at 95/125 Wisconsin airports.

Go ahead and get that tail kit order in. It’s fun to build on its own and a bargain way to dip your toes in to the building world.
